Nike
Our Story

Just Do It. Since 1964.

We started as two guys and a waffle iron. Sixty years later we're still chasing the same question: what does an athlete need that doesn't exist yet?

Nike Moon Shoe OG SP

A waffle iron, a track coach, and a very stubborn idea.

Bill Bowerman poured rubber into his wife’s waffle iron looking for a lighter, grippier outsole for his University of Oregon runners. The result became the Moon Shoe — and the blueprint for everything that followed: build the shoe from the ground the athlete runs on, not the other way around.

From a car trunk to a global locker room.

Blue Ribbon Sports sold its first pairs out of a car at track meets. Today the swoosh reaches 190-plus countries, but the questions haven’t changed: does it fit, does it perform, does it last.

Aero-FIT is the next answer.

Heat is the oldest opponent in sport. Aero-FIT’s knit structure vents it in real time, so the conversation moves from staying cool to just playing — which was always the point.
